What does your posture say about you? Good posture is not only good for your health but it sends the message to others that you are strong and confident. It is common for people who are experiencing pain to develop a rounded posture. You can picture it; rounded shoulders, forward head with shoulders shrugged up near your ears. This same posture is often accentuated as we age. No one wants to end up bent over with the humpback so what’s a person to do?
Let’s start off by checking to see how straight you are. Stand with your back to the wall with your heels about 6” away from the wall. Ideally you should be looking straight ahead with the back of your head, back of your shoulders and back of your hips touching the wall. If this feels strange you are likely not as straight as you should be.
