I was so nervous when I arrived at my doctor’s office.  I had gone from feeling pure joy about being a new mom to absolute fear of what was to come.  My doctor who I adored told me that my uterus had prolapsed and there was really nothing that could be done.

I should just go home and it should improve some with time.  He said that I would need to have a hysterectomy when I was done having children.  He was a very compassionate doctor but this was stated so casually I couldn’t believe it.  I was 25 years old!  I left feeling empty.  I had no options.  Remember, this was 1992.

I couldn’t turn to Google for answers.  I was a physical therapist.  My husband was a medical doctor and we never looked for other options.  I was being cared for at The Mayo Clinic.  I left that appointment completely ignorant and stayed that way until 2012!
